Bio
Greg Rhyne began his tenure as MMI's Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach September 14, 2020. Besides serving as the head coach, Coach Rhyne will also oversee the upkeep and day-to-day operations as the MMI Golf Course Manager.
Coach Rhyne played collegiately at Livingston University and the University of Montevallo before graduating from the University of West Alabama in 1997 with a B.S. in Secondary Education (Mathematics). He taught high school math classes in the state of Alabama for 23 years, most recently at Demopolis High School (DHS) and served as the head golf coach for both the boys' and girls’ programs.
At DHS, Coach Rhyne had male golfers qualify for Sectional play in 2019 and in 2018 where the boys played in both Sectional and Sub State tournaments. In 2016, an individual golfer for the men's team make it through the Sectional and Sub State stroke play tournaments and competed in the 2016 AHSAA State Tournament at RTJ Huntsville. That young man went on to sign a golf scholarship with the University of West Alabama.
In 2012, Coach Rhyne's girls team started with a single golfer. In 2014 and 2015, she played in both Sectional and Sub State tournaments competing as an individual. In 2016, under the guidance of Coach Rhyne, DHS established a girls’ team that advanced to the AHSAA State Tournament at RTJ Huntsville, a first in school history. The 2016 team had an individual sign a golf scholarship with Faulkner University who later walked on at the University of Alabama for one year. The girls team continued a successful run by qualifying for both Sectional and Sub State tournaments in 2017 and 2018. In 2019, an individual female golfer made it through the Sectional and Sub State stroke play tournaments to completed in the 2019 AHSAA State Tournament at RTJ Prattville.
