Softball Sweeps LBW

Andalusia, AL. – The MMI Lady Tigers picked up two more wins on the road Saturday, completing the four-game sweep against the Saints of Lurleen B. Wallace Community College. Next up for the Tigers is a four-game series against Central Alabama Community College with the first two games being played on the road.

Game 3 MMI 7 LBW 2

Emily Rice threw a complete game from the circle to earn the win in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. In seven innings, she gave up six hits, two runs (one earned), and a walk with eleven strikeouts.

Alexandra Gray went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Marion. She stole a base, scored a run, and recorded an RBI. Abigail Phillips homered in one of her two hits with two RBI and a run scored.

Also getting hits for Marion were Nichole Dockery (1-for-3, R, BB, 3SB), Katie Hopson (1-for-4, R, RBI), and Kyren Damon (1-for-3, R).

Game 4 MMI 17 LBW 6

MMI scored three runs in the first inning and then added another three in the third, two in the fourth, two in the sixth and seven in the final inning to take game four, earning the series sweep.

Emma Parmley started for the Tigers and in three innings gave up two hits, two walks, and three runs (two earned) with two strikeouts. Also seeing action was Haylie Lee, Sydney Elam, and Emily Rice.

Carlie Blanton, Katie Hopson, Kyren Damon, and Destiny Brashears each finished with multiple hits for Marion. Blanton went 4-for-5 with a double and a triple. She walked twice and scored four runs. Hopson recorded three RBI on a three-hit day with a stolen base and two runs scored. Brashears homered twice with a team high five RBI. Damon scored two runs with two hits in the win.

Nichole Dockery (1-for-3, 2R, BB, 3B, SB), Shelby Black (1-for-3, R), Abigail Phillips (1-for-4, 2B), Veronica Ward (1-for-2, R, RBI, BB), Alexandra Gray (1-for-4, 2RBI), and Rebecca Roy (1-for-2, 2B, RBI) recorded hits for the Tigers.
