Softball Wins Three of Four against Reid State
Marion, AL. – The MMI Lady Tigers split their home doubleheader Saturday afternoon against Reid State Technical College, winning the ACCC series 3-1.
Game 1 MMI 2 RSTC 3
The Tigers dropped game one of the doubleheader Saturday afternoon. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Marion had a runner on first base with two outs but was called out leaving early on an attempted steal. Emily Rice took the loss from the circle. She struck out ten batters and walked one in seven innings of work.
Alexandra Gray and Kyren Damon each had two hits in the loss; Damon doubled twice and Gray stole a base and scored once.
Katie Hopson (1-for-3, 2B) and Shelby Black (1-for-3, 2B, R) also had hits for MMI.
Game 2 MMI 12 RSTC 4 (5 Innings)
Katie Hopson finished with three hits in four plate appearances to lead the Tigers to a game two victory, and a 3-1 series win. She doubled and scored a run with three RBI. Nichole Dockery tripled twice, was walked once and scored three runs with two RBI. Carlie Blanton, Alexandra Gray, and Abigail Phillips each went 2-for-3 at the plate. Gray tripled and scored once while Blanton doubled with three RBI; Phillips scored twice.
Emma Parmley started in the circle for MMI and after 3.2 innings of work, was relieved by Haylie Lee. Lee worked 1.1 innings with two hits, and strikeout with no walks or runs.
