Marion Wins Three of Four From Coyotes
Marion, AL. – The MMI softball team won their ACCC series against Coastal Alabama CC – North after sweeping Saturday's doubleheader. Next up for the Lady Tigers is Bishop State CC with the first two games to played at home on Wednesday, April 9 starting at 12:00 p.m.
Game 1 MMI 6 COAN 3
Maia Harris pitched a complete game to earn the victory for Marion, giving up seven hits, three runs and two walks.
Katelyn Rhodes, Abigail Phillips, and Ally Putnam each had two hits. Rhodes scored twice with Putnam recording a team high two RBI. Phillips doubled, stole a base, and scored once.
Also getting hits for MMI were Cloe Hudson (1-for-3, SB), Alexandra Gray (1-for-4, R), and Veronica Ward (1-for-4)
Game 2 MMI 7 COAN 8
After building a 6-1 lead, Marion could not hold their lead and gave up seven runs in the sixth inning to take their only loss during the series.
Getting hits for the Lady Tigers was Nichole Dockery (1-for-3, 2RBI), Alexandra Gray (1-for-3, R, SB), Veronica Ward (1-for-2, 2R, 2BB), and Emily Rice (2-for-3, BB, R).
Sydney Elam started in the circle for MMI with Michaela Otts and Taylor Bailey seeing action in relief.
Game 3 MMI 10 COAN 2 (5 innings)
Sydney Elam worked 3.2 innings in a starting role on Saturday with Maia Harris working 1.1 innings in relief. Harris gave up three hits, an earned run, and a walk with a strikeout. Elam walked seven and struck out four allowing just one hit.
Katie Robbins (2-for-3, R, RBI), Veronica Ward (2-for-3, 2R), and Alexandra Gray (2-for-2, RBI, 2R) finished with multiple hits in the shortened game.
Also generating hits were Cloe Hudson (1-for-2, 3R, BB, RBI), Nichole Dockery (1-for-3, RBI), Abigail Phillips (1-for-2, RBI, 2B), Emily Rice (1-for-3, R).
Game 4 MMI 15 COAN 7
Marion scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to earn the win and a doubleheader sweep Saturday afternoon. Maia Harris earned the win from the circle, giving up seven hits in five innings with one earned run, a walk, and a strikeout.
Katie Robbins went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Nichole Dockery added two hits, one a triple with five RBI and a stolen base. Cloe Hudson had two hits in the leadoff spot for MMI with two walks, two stolen bases, and RBI and four runs.
Alexandra Gray (1-for-2, 3R, SB), Veronica Ward (1-for-2, 2R, 2B, BB), Emily Rice (1-for-4, R), Abigail Phillips (1-for-4, 2B, RBI) also recorded hits in the win.
