Lady Tigers Sweep Shelton State

Marion, AL. – The MMI Lady Tigers swept the four-game series against Shelton State CC after claiming two victories Saturday afternoon. Marion will face Snead State Community College in another four-game series this weekend.

Game 1: MMI 3 SSCC 1

Marion only recorded two hits, one each from Alexandra Erwin and Krislin Estes, but was able to score three runs to take game one Thursday afternoon.

Kinley Bolton pitched a complete game giving up six hits, one run and three walks with five strikeouts.

Game 2: MMI 5 SSCC 4

After getting down 4-0, the Lady Tigers rallied and scored the go ahead run in the seventh inning to earn the doubleheader sweep Thursday.

Harleigh Anderson earned the win after relieving freshman starter Jaylee Cros.  In six innings, Anderson gave up just two hits, no runs and one walk with a strikeout.

Avary Lumpkin and Jaqulyn Braswell each had two hits for MMI.  Lumpkin doubled, scored once, and had two RBI.

Also recording hits was Karlee Pierson, Krislin Estes, Addison Jennings, Carly Taylor, and Jazmin Healy

Game 3: MMI 4 SSCC 3

Marion scored all four of their runs in the third inning when Carly Taylor singled to lead off at the plate.  Jazmin Healy singled and Alexandra Erwin reached on a bunt to load the bases.  Taylor scored on a passed ball; both runners advanced one base.  With two outs, Jessica Cross walked and Avary Lumpkin singled to score Erwin.  Krislin Estes doubled, scoring Cross.

Sophomore Kinley Bolton had kept the Lady Bucs' batters at bay until the seventh inning when they plated three runs and had the tying run on second base.  Bolton finished the game with a strikeout and securing the series win.

Game 4: MMI 8 SSCC 0

Sophomore Harleigh Anderson earned her second win of the series after working five innings in a shortened run-ruled game.

Marion scored their first run in the third inning when sophomore centerfielder Carly Taylor singled to left field; a misplay by the Bucs outfielder got Taylor to third.  She scored on a passed ball.

With rain coming down MMI's bats got to work in the bottom of the fifth inning to score seven runs. Krislin Estes earned a one out walk.  Jayden Kendrick and Carly Taylor followed with back-to-back walks to load the bases.  Addison Jennings hit a ball back to the pitcher which scored a run and kept the bases loaded.  An infield error off the bat of Alexandra Erwin scored another run.  Freshman second baseman, Jaqulyn Braswell took an 0-1 pitch over the left centerfield fence to plate four runs.  With two outs Caroline Willis worked the count to 3-2 and then ended the game with a homerun to left field.
