Softball Starts 2-0 in ACCC North Action

Muscle Shoals, AL – The MMI softball team started ACCC North play 2-0 after defeating Northwest Shoals CC twice Saturday afternoon.  They will conclude the ACCC North series Monday, March 6, with game 1 scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.

GAME 1:  MMI 10 NWS 2

Sophomore Kinley Bolton earned the victory from the circle for the Lady Tigers, throwing a complete game.  She gave up seven hits, two runs (none earned), three walks with eight strikeouts.

Karlee Pierson and Avary Lumpkin led Marion at the plate with three hits apiece.  Pierson had a double, scored three runs with three RBI and two stolen bases; Lumpkin doubled and homered with four RBI.

Jazmin Healy finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored.  Jaqulyn Braswell and Krislin Estes also collected hits in the game one win.

GAME 2: MMI 10 NWS 2

Alexandra Erwin and Jessica Cross each went 3-for-4 to pace the Lady Tigers to the win in game two and the doubleheader sweep.  Erwin doubled, scored twice, and had two RBI; Cross homered, scored twice and finished with three RBI.

Karlee Pierson, Avary Lumpkin, and Jazmin Healy each had two hits with Lumpkin and Healy each doubling and Pierson adding another two stolen bases.

Ashley Maddox earned the win for Marion with Harleigh Anderson working an inning in relief.  Maddox gave up six hits, two runs, and a walk with three strikeouts.
