Tuscaloosa, AL. – The MMI Lady Tigers softball team captured a doubleheader sweep at Shelton State CC Thursday afternoon and then a split Saturday to claim the four-game series, 3-1. They are scheduled to play Bishop State CC in the firs round of the ACCC Tournament Friday, May 6, at Veteran's Park in Alabaster.

Game 1: MMI 9 SSCC 0

Kinley Bolton threw six innings and earned the win from the circle. She gave up three hits and one walk with four strikeouts.

Jessica Morales, Maris Stinchcomb, Kaela Gimberg, and Jazmin Healy all went 2-for-3 at the plate. Stinchcomb hit a homerun, scored twice, and finished with two RBI. Erin Babineaux had two hits in two official plate appearances with two walks and an RBI. Jessica Cross had a double with a walk, three RBI and two runs scored.

Game 2: MMI 11 SSCC 0

Harleigh Anderson earned the win for Marion giving up just three hits in five innings, with one walk and four strikeouts.

Jessica Morales led Marion with three hits, three runs scored and a stolen base. Carly Taylor, Jessica Cross, Maris Stinchcomb, Kaela Gimberg, Erin Babineaux, and Meredith Taylor also recorded hits in the run-ruled game.

Game 3: MMI 2 SSCC 11

With only eight hits and a multitude of errors, the Lady Tigers dropped game three of the series. Carly Taylor and Meredith Taylor each had two hits. Erin Babineaux, Maris Stinchcomb, and Jessica Morales also finished with hits in the loss.

Game 4: MMI 8 SSCC 7

After Marion took and early lead in the final game of the series, Shelton State plated six runs in the sixth inning to take a 7-5 lead. Marion answered with three runs in the bottom of that inning to take the lead back, 8-7.

Carly Taylor led the Lady Tigers with three hits, three RBI, and two runs scored. Kaela Gimberg went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Jessica Morales finished 2-for-4 from the leadoff position with a double, a stolen base and two runs scored. Also getting hits for MMI were Jessica Cross, Maris Stinchcomb, Erin Babineaux, and Jazmin Healy.
