Softball Wins Three of Four from CACC
Alexander City, AL. – The MMI Lady Tigers softball team defeated the Trojans of Central Alabama Community College twice yesterday afternoon to take the four-game series, 3-1. They will play an out of conference game Thursday when they travel to Brewton, Alabama to face the War Hawks of Coastal Alabama CC-East for a doubleheader.
Game 1: MMI 7 CACC 1
The Trojans scored in their first at-bat, but the Lady Tigers were able to answer back with a run of their own to even the score. They added a run in the third and fourth innings, three in the fifth inning and then a run in each of the sixth and seventh innings to claim game one victory.
Jessica Morales went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored. Jessica Cross had a homerun in one of her two hits with three RBI. Carley Taylor and Kaela Gimberg each finished with two hits in four plate appearances; Taylor score once, had a double and an RBI.
Also getting hits for MMI were Erin Babineaux who connected for a home run, Maris Stinchcomb, and Jazmin Healy.
Kinley Bolton won her 17th game of the season, working all seven innings in the circle. She gave up five hits, no walks, and one run with five strikeouts.
Game 2: MMI 4 CACC 2
Harleigh Anderson picked up the win in game two with Alexus Lambert working in relief, and Kinley Bolton earning the save.
Jessica Cross hit her second homerun of the day, finishing 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored. Jessica Morales, Erin Babineaux, and Jazmin Healy also had hits for Marion in the win.
