Softball Wins First Two Games of Bevill State CC Series

The MMI Lady Tigers softball team won the first two games of the four-game series against Bevill State Community College on the road yesterday. They will finish the ACCC North series at home Saturday with game one starting at 1:00 p.m.

Game 1: MMI 7 BSCC 1

Kinley Bolton pitched a complete game in game one on her way to her 14th win of the season. She allowed six hits, one run, and six walks with twelve strikeouts.

Jessica Morales, Maris Stinchcomb, and Jaycie Armstrong each had two hits. Morales had two triples and scored three times with one RBI and a stolen base. Stinchcomb had two RBI and a double while scoring once.

Also collecting hits were Erin Babineaux and Jazmin Healy.

Game 2: MMI 3 BSCC 1

After getting behind 1-0 in game two, MMI scored three runs in the sixth to take the lead and secure the doubleheader sweep.

Harleigh Anderson earned the win from the circle, with Bolton working two innings in relief and collecting her second save. Anderson allowed four hits, one run and three walks in five innings with five strikeouts.

Maris Stinchcomb, Jessica Morales, and Erin Babineaux each went 2-for-3 at the plate. Stinchcomb doubled and scored a run with two RBI. Carly Taylor collected two hits in four plate appearances and scored one run for the Lady Tigers.

Jessica Cross rounded out the offense for Marion with a hit and one run scored.
