Marion, AL—Thursday afternoon the Lady Tigers softball team split a doubleheader against the Lady Parsons from Snead State Community College. They will travel to Boaz, Alabama Saturday to complete the four-game series.

Game 1: MMI 6 Snead State 1

Marion got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first inning when Jessica Cross connected for a two-out homerun.

First-year hurler Kinley Bolton kept Snead State to only one run, when they scored it off an infield error in the third inning. The Lady Tigers answered back in their chance at the plate, scoring a run. Jessica Morales led off with a triple and Kaela Gimberg singled her in across the plate.

MMI added a run in the fourth inning when Carly Taylor led off with a walk. Meredith Taylor singled and with two outs Morales singled to score Taylor.

With MMI holding a 3-1 after five innings, the Lady Tigers added three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Meredith Taylor walked, and Jaycie Armstrong sacrificed her to second base. Jazmin Healy singled to score Taylor. Jessica Morales singled and advanced to second on the throw to the plate. Kaela Gimberg' s singled scored the final two runs of the game.

Game 2: MMI 2 Snead State 4

 Marion once again scored first and led 1-0 after three innings of play. Jaycie Armstrong singled with one out and she scampered around the bases off a Jessica Morales' single.

Snead State tied the game in the next inning with a homerun to left field.  MMI took the lead back, 2-1, in the bottom half of the fourth inning. Jessica Cross singled and with two outs scored off a base hit by center fielder Cary Taylor.

The Parsons once again tied the game in the top of the sixth inning off another homerun to left field and then added two more runs in the seventh inning to take a 4-2 lead into Marion's last at-bat. After Jazmin Healy reached on an error, the Lady Tiger's bats could not put together a rally giving the visitors from Boaz the gam two win.
