Lady Tigers Finish Calhoun Series 2-1-1

Decatur, AL. – The MMI softball team completed their first ACCC North series with the War Hawks of Calhoun CC with a record of 2-1-1.  After splitting the first doubleheader at home Thursday afternoon, the Lady Tigers defeated Calhoun in game one and tied game two with the game being called due to darkness Friday. 

MMI will face Southern Union State CC in the second series of ACCC North play.  Thursday, March 17, the Lady Tigers will play at home with game one scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.  They are scheduled to travel to Wadley, Alabama for the final two games of the series Saturday, March 19 with a 1:00 p.m. start.

Game 1: MMI 6 Calhoun 5 (11 innings)

MMI took an early lead in game one of Friday's doubleheader and held on scoring a run in the eleventh inning to secure the win.  Jessica Cross and Maris Stinchcomb each finished with three hits.  Cross had a double and a homerun with four RBI and two runs scored.  Stinchcomb doubled three times and scored once.

Erin Babineaux went 2-for-6 with a double and a homerun; she also had an RBI and scored twice for Marion.  Also getting hits for MMI were Carly Taylor, Kaela Gimberg, and Jazmin Healy.

Game 2: MMI 4 Calhoun 4

Marion scored twice in the top of the seventh inning and after the game was called due to darkness, game two was declared a tie.  Harleigh Anderson and Alexus Lambert each threw in the circle with no one gaining the win.

Erin Babineaux continued her hot bat, going 3-for-3 with a walk and one run scored.  Jessica Cross and Jessica Morales both had two hits with Cross hitting another homerun with three RBI; she also scored a run. Morales had a double and scored once.

Carly Taylor and Jaycie Armstrong also collected hits.
