Stover and Gaffney Finish in Top Ten at BMC Open
Blue Mountain, MS. - Freshmen James Stover and Daniel Gaffney finished 7th and 8th respectively yesterday evening at the Blue Mountain College Open to pace the MMI Tigers cross country team. Head Coach, Chad Balentine, was pleased with the team's progress. "Big races for Jimmy Stover with a personal best of 28:10 and Daniel Gaffney with a personal best of 28:17 to finish in the Top 10." Stover and Gaffney were the first junior college runners to cross the finish line with teammate Tyler Malone (30:03.78) close behind. "It was the first cross country race for a few of our guys and they did well for their first time," continued Balentine. "The men as a whole continued to drop their overall average team time despie not being at full strength, We grew up as a group today and had a very solid evening."
Nigel Bannister (32:20.64) and Logan Dunaway (32:45.18) followed Stover, Gaffney, and Malone to pace the Tigers to a 4th place team finish.
Both teams will have a week off before heading to Huntsville, Alabama on October 9th for the UAH Charger Open.
