Tigers Drop Three of Four Against Snead State CC

Marion, AL. – The MMI Tigers dropped three of four games against the Parsons of Snead State Community College this past week.  Marion will face Bevill State CC this week in another four-game series with Thursday's game scheduled to be played at home; weather permitting.

Game 1: MMI 2 SSCC 13

The Tigers only recorded five hits in game one of the series with Camden Matthews, Nicholas Purvis, Nicholas Copen, John Tunnell, and Major Paracca each finishing with one.

Matthew Casey took the loss for MMI with Harrison Poplin seeing action in relief.

Game 2: MMI 10 SSCC 8

Marion earned a doubleheader split in Boaz, Alabama Thursday afternoon after seeing multiple Tiger hitters produce.  Braeden Brown went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and one run scored.  Nicholas Purvis also had three hits, one being a homerun.  He scored once and recorded a team high three RBI.  Also getting for the Tigers was Jack Beck (2-for-3, 3R), Mason Green (2-for-4, 2B, 2R, 1BB, 1RBI), Skyler Smith (2-for-3, RBI), and Major Paracca (1-for-4, 2B)

Getting the win from the mound was freshman Gavin Chandler who worked four innings.  He gave up six hits, six runs (four earned) and two walks.  Nicholas Copen and Luke Fondren both saw action in relief with Fondren collecting another save.

Game 3: MMI 4 SSCC 5

After giving up three runs in the Parson's first at-bat, the Tigers plated two runs to cut the visitor's lead to just one run.  Jack Beck led off with a walk and Mason Green singled.  Nicholas Purvis walked to load the bases.  A wild pitch allowed Beck to score; Green and Purvis both advanced one base.  A sac fly by Camden Matthews scored Green.

Neither team scored until Snead State added two runs in the fourth inning.  Marion added two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the lead once again to one run.  Purvis was hit by a pitch and was brought in by a homerun off the bat of Nicholas Copen.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Tigers reached on back-to-back walks but couldn't bring them around to score.

Game 4: MMI 1 SSCC 12

The Parson scored two runs in the first inning, four in the third inning, three in the fourth and sixth inning to take a commanding lead. Marion plated their only run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
