Tigers Win Second ACCC North Series
Alexander City, AL. – The MMI Tigers earned their first ACCC North series (3-1), defeating the Trojans of Central Alabama Community College twice Saturday afternoon. They will face Lawson State Community College in another four game series starting this Thursday, March 30, at home with a 12:00 p.m. start time.
Game 1: MMI 3 CACC 1
Marion scored a run in the third inning and two more in the fifth inning to claim game one of Saturday's doubleheader. Landen Williams worked all seven innings from the mound for the Tigers and earned the win. He gave up three hits, one run (none earned) and a walk with three strikeouts.
Jack Beck, the Tigers lead-ff batter, finished 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI with a stolen base. Also getting hits for MMI was Nicholas Purvis (1-for-2, 2BB, RBI), Nicholas Copen (1-for-3, RBI), Camden Matthews (1-for-4), and Major Paracca (1-for-3, R).
Game 2: MMI 9 CACC 4
MMI took game two after scoring two runs in the third inning, five in the fourth, and one in the sixth and seventh innings to claim game two victory, and the ACCC series.
Harrison Poplin threw 2.1 innings and secured the win with Austin Collins, Maxwell Grogan, Luke Fondren, and Camden Matthews all seeing action in relief.
Braeden Brown led the Tiger's offense with three hits in four plate appearances with two runs scored. Camden Matthews and Mason Green each had two hits with Matthews finishing with two doubles.
Also collecting hits for Marion was Jack Beck (1-for-4, 2B, 2RBI, R), Nicholas Copen (1-for-4, R), and John Tunnell (1-for-4, R).
