Tigers Split with Patriots on the Road

Selma, AL. – The MMI Tigers split with Wallace CC-Selma Sunday afternoon after the games were postponed from Saturday due to the Friday rain.  The Patriots will come to Marion, Tuesday, March 1, for a re-match with game one scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.

Game 1: MMI 8 WCC-S 2

Landen Williams earned the win from the mound for Marion in game one of the Sunday afternoon doubleheader.  In 5.2 innings, he gave up four hits, two runs (none earned) with a walk and five strikeouts.  Jonah Leland worked 1.1 innings in relief.

Colby Davis led Marion with three hits, including a double, three RBIs and a stolen base; he also scored a run.  Trenten Justice went 2-for-2 with a walk, a double, an RBI and three runs scored.

Camden Matthews, Jack Beck, John Tunnell, Mason Green, and Connor White also had hits for MMI in the win.

Game 2: MMI 1 WCC-S 2 (8 innings)

With the game scoreless after seven innings, MMI scored a run in the top of the eighth inning to take the first lead of the afternoon.  Selma scored twice in their at-bat and walked off with the win.  AJ Crocker took the loss for Marion after relieving Nicholas Copen from the mound.

 Mason Green (1-for-4; 1 run), Camden Matthews (1-for-4), Jack Beck (1-for-4), and John Tunnell (1-for-3; 1 double) collected hits for the Tigers.
