Tigers Drop Doubleheader to Parsons on the Road
Boaz, AL. – After splitting a doubleheader against the Parsons of Snead State Community College last Thursday, the Tigers dropped their final two games at SSCC Sunday afternoon.
Game 1 MMI 0 SSCC 16
Nicholas Freeman and Trayton Taft recorded Marion's only two hits in game one. Mason Elmore took the loss from the mound while Jaxson Lucas and Caleb Junkin both saw action in relief.
Game 2 MMI 13 SSCC 16
After the Tigers allowed Snead State to take an early 5-0 lead, they bounced back in the second inning to take a slim 6-5 lead. The Parsons added four more runs in their turn at the plate in the second inning to take the lead back 9-6. Marion added two more runs in the third inning and five in sixth inning, but it was not enough to make a comeback and split the doubleheader.
Michael Rich had a team high five RBI on his way to a 3-for-5 day at the plate. He scored once and had three doubles. Colton Lunceford had a homerun in one of his three hits on the day. Trayton Taft finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Hunter Stowe and Trenten Justice also had hits for Marion.
Joshua Mehmen took the loss for the Tigers while Harrison Poplin, Zakye Holiday and Mason Green worked in relief.
MMI will face Lawson State Community College for another ACCC North four-game series this week with Thursday afternoon's doubleheader to be played on the road in Birmingham, Alabama.
