Tigers Split Series with Wallace State

The MMI baseball team split the four-game series against the Lions of Wallace State Community College, winning the first and last games.

Game 1 MMI 8 WSCC 6

Nicholas Copen earned the win from the mound for MMI, working 4.1 innings.  He gave up eight hits, three runs, and a walk with one strikeout.  Mason Elmore and Joshua Mehmen also saw action in relief.  Nicholas Freeman led Marion at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance.  He scored a run and recorded two RBI.  Michael Rich had two hits in four plate appearances with a double, a walk, and one run scored. 

Also getting hits for MMI were Bryson Kirk, Hunter Stowe, Colton Lunceford, Jordan Moore, Christian Wright, and Mason Green

Game 2: MMI 3 WSCC 10

The Tigers scattered eight hits in the loss at Hanceville Saturday afternoon with Hunter Stowe and Nicholas Davis each finishing with two. Scoring runs for Marion were Bryson Kirk, Stowe, and Michael Rich on a homerun.

John Allen took the loss for the Tigers with Christian Wright and Andrew Parks seeing action in relief.

Game 3 MMI 1 WSCC 7

The Lions scored five runs in the second inning to take an early 5-0 lead and the Tigers never were able to put a scoring rally together to make the game close.  Jackson Knox took the loss for MMI with James Oliver working 1.1 innings in relief.

Colton Lunceford went 3-for4 and Bryson Kirk finished with two hits in three plate appearances to lead the Tigers at the plate.  Jordan Moore scored Marion's lone run off a sacrifice fly from Harrison Poplin.

Game 4 MMI 7 WSCC 6

The MMI Tigers scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to even the four-game series after Wallace State tied the game in the top half of the inning. Michael Rich, Trayton Taft, and Hunter Stowe each had two hits for MMI in the win.  Rich blasted another homerun, was walked once, and recorded two RBI; Taft walked once and scored twice.

Also collecting hits for Marion were Bryson Kirk, Nicholas Davis, Colton Lunceford, Trenten Justice, and Jordan Moore.

Jaxson Lucas started on the mound for the Tigers with Joshua Mehmen earning the win in relief.
