Tigers 7-6-1 After Four Game Weekend
The MMI baseball team finished a four-game weekend on the road 2-2, improving their 2021 spring record to 7-6-1. The Tigers are scheduled to play Wallace Community College-Selma four games, two this Friday and two next Monday, before heading into ACCC North league play next week.
Starting center fielder, Nicholas Freeman, has led Marion at the plate with a .575 average. He is followed by freshman Nicholas Copen who has four doubles, a triple, two home runs, and 12 RBI for a .386 average. Hunter Stowe, the Tiger's designated hitter, has been solid with a .381 average. With nine RBI, he has hit three doubles, two triples and a home run. Third baseman, Jordan Moore, is hitting .325 at the plate with Colton Lunceford adding 12 RBI and a .310 batting average. Sophomore Michael Rich is the team leader in RBI (15) and home runs (3) after fourteen games.
On the mound, two Tiger pitchers have recorded two wins apiece: Joshua Mehmen and Jaxson Lucas. Mehmen is a perfect 2-0 with a team leading 1.69 ERA. Also collecting wins from the mound are Mason Elmore, JC Watkins, and Zakye Holiday.
