Marion, AL—In a Saturday afternoon match with the Snead State Lady Parsons, the Lady Tigers relied on the singles and doubles talents of Carlee Conway and Maria Cespedes to score their only points of the match en route to a 6-3 loss.
The Conway/Cespedes duo, plagued by errors early in the match, settled down to notch the Lady Tigers' first point of the day, 8-1. MMI's Shikiria Franklin and Selah Cho partnered together for only the second time this spring season and wound up losing 8-0. MMI forfeited the third doubles slot.
Conway beat the Lady Parsons' Rachel Farmer, 6-1, 6-1, and Maria Cespedes secured MMI's third and last point of the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Amanda Bertoldi. MMI's Franklin and Cho lost in straight sets to give Snead State a 4-3 lead. MMI forfeited singles flights five and six to complete the scoring on the afternoon.
The Lady Tigers return to action on Tuesday, March 10, when they face the Stillman College Lady Tigers in a 1:00 p.m. match at the Paul B. Anderson Tennis Complex on the MMI campus.
