Lady Tigers Fall to Lady Sun Chiefs, 6-3, in Women’s Tennis

Marion, AL—An undermanned Lady Tiger squad lost 6-3 to the Lady Sun Chiefs in a Wednesday afternoon match at the Paul B. Anderson Tennis Complex.  After handing Faulkner State two wins via default, MMI fought back to take the doubles match on court 1 and two singles matches on courts 1 and 2.

MMI's Maria Cespedes and Lydia Carter prevailed in three sets after dropping the first set 4-6.  They stormed back to take the second set, 6-2, and outlasted Faulkner State's Elizabeth Schmidt and Mackenzie Tobin, 10-7, in the super tiebreaker for the third set.

In singles play, MMI's Maria Cespedes played a super match and won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0, on court 1.  Lydia Carter on court 2 for MMI dropped two games on her way to a 6-0, 6-2 win.

The Lady Tigers will travel to Tuscaloosa, AL, on Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5 to take part in the Stillman College Invitational Tennis Tournament.  Play will begin at 9:00 a.m. on both days.
