Orlando, FL. - The Marion Military Institute wrestling team traveled to Orlando, Florida this past weekend to compete in the University of Central Florida Duals and Open Tournaments.
On Friday evening the Tigers defeated the University of North Florida 58-0 in the first duals match. Marion and Truett McConnell tied 21 apiece but the Tigers were declared the winners since they finished with more match points scored.
Twelve teams competed in the Open Tournament on Saturday, with all but two schools being four-year colleges and universities. Shorter University, an NCAA Division II school, won the tournament, winning every weight class except 125-lb. and 133-lb. The host school, UCF, finished second with 107.5 points. MMI took third place with 103 points. Darton College (87 points) and Truett McConnell (60.5 points) rounded out the top five.
