Three former MMI wrestlers, Ben Smith, Terrance Smith, and Marlen Morgan, helped Shorter University claim the 2014 NCWA Southeastern Conference Tournament title. Shorter claimed the crown amassing 219.5 points, well ahead of runner-up and host Central Florida (154.5). Florida Gulf Coast, Florida and South Florida rounded out the top five of the 14-team tourney, which also included wrestlers from Georgia, Georgia Southern, MMI, Alabama and Auburn.
Ben Smith claimed the 125-lb. weight class and is currently ranked #6 in NCWA points in his weight class while Terrance Smith won the 184-lb. weight class and was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. Terrance is currently ranked #2 in NCWA points in his weight class. Marlen Morgan also earned a conference title for Shorter in the 285-lb. weight class. Morgan is currently ranked #10 in NCWA points in the heavyweight class.
