Wrestlers Win Seminole Rattler Tournament

Tallahassee, FL - The MMI wrestling team captured first place at the Seminole Rattler Tournament Saturday, competing against eleven four-year teams.  Marion finished with 140 points.  The University of South Florida took second place with 130 points while the University of North Florida (99 points) and the University of Georgia (93 points) rounded out the top teams.

Deandre Beck (157-lb.), Jesse Garrett (174-lb.), Ronnie Caudill (184-lb.), and John Long (285-lb.) were crowned champions in their respective weight classes for MMI.  Finishing second in the 165-lb. weight class was Cody Lane.  Brandon Abejon (149-lb.) and Kyle Fijalkowski (197-lb.) each finished in third place while teammate David Dowling took fifth place in the 285-lb. weight class.

Marion will wrestle in the NCWA Southeastern Conference Tournament on Saturday, March 1 at the University of Central Florida.  This is a qualifying event for the NCWA National Tournament.
