Marion, AL - After a one-year stint as the Lady Tigers assistant softball coach, Kirstyn Joiner has been promoted to Interim Head Softball Coach after last year's head coach, Sarah Harman, resigned Monday morning to pursue another job offer in Texas. "We are very pleased that Coach Joiner has decided to step into the head coaching position on an interim basis for our softball team. The timing may seem awkward to some, but we think this will be a very smooth transition as the fall practice schedule starts," states Michelle Ivey, MMI Director of Athletics.
A native of Milton, Florida, Coach Joiner lettered in both softball and golf at Pace High School. She accepted a softball scholarship at NAIA powerhouse University of Mobile where she played both catcher and third base. Coach Joiner was named to the All-GCAC three years and is currently listed in the record books at UM for Career Batting Average (.346) and Single Season Sacrifices (13). She also served as an assistant softball coach with the Lady Pirates of Pensacola State College before coming to MMI.
