Marion AL- The MMI softball team, 10-12, couldn't push a run across in Game one against visiting Alabama Southern Community College, losing 1-0. Kennedy Harrison led the offense going 3-for-3 with a double. Emily Tarango also chipped in with a double. Lindsey Savoie pitched a complete game, giving up four hits on one earned run with three strikeouts.
In the second game, Alabama Southern got on the board first in the top of the second. A lead off walk eventually scored off of a base hit to left field. MMI would tie the game 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Taylor Saucier reached on an error by the third baseman and would steal second base. She later scored on a passed ball. The game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh inning. Emily Tarango led off the inning with a bunt for a hit, Kennedy Harrison singled and Hayden Short was hit by a pitch to load the bases. With no outs, Alisea Balderaz hit a 3-2 count walk-off single to left field to score Tarango for the win 2-1. Caitlynn Cooper pitched a complete game scattering five hits on one earned run with four strikeouts.
