Brewton AL- MMI softball dropped a 1-0 decision to Jefferson Davis Community College in game one of a doubleheader Fridat afternoon. The Lady Tigers left 13 batters on base while having the bases loaded twice. Alisea Balderaz led Marion at the plate, going 2-for-4 while Ashley Holt, Angel Harrison, and Andie Lopez each chipped in a single. Caitlynn Cooper went the distance pitching all seven innings, scattering seven hits with three strikeouts and one walk on one unearned run.
In game two versus Baton Rouge Community College the offense erupted to an 8-0 win. MMI got on the board in the bottom of the second inning. Kennedy Harrison got a base hit and reached second base due to an error. Harrison then stole third base and was later scored by Ashley Holt. The bottom of the fifth inning proved to be a big one as the Lady Tigers scored seven runs to end the game in the five inning run-rule. Andie Lopez lead off with a single to left field. Pinch hitter Angelina Cardenas knocked a double to score Lopez. Angel Harrison reached base by a short stop error. With runners on first and second, Hayden Short launched a deep home run over the left field fence to plate three more runs. Alisea Balderaz followed that up with a spark of her own crushing a double to left center field. Kennedy Harrison reached on another short stop error. Sharayah Simco drilled a double (2 RBI) to right field. Marion's offense kept rolling with a pinch hit single from Taylor Saucier. Andie Lopez and Kadie Clark would both walk to end the game at 8-0. Lauren Camacho picked up the shutout win pitching five innings on two hits. Annelise Borg went 2-for-2 in pinch hitting roles in both games.
