Softball Drops Conference Doubleheader to Snead

BOAZ, AL – Snead State Community College did not fool around Tuesday, scoring a one sided 11-0 victory in the opener then holding off a comeback attempt by the Marion Military Institute Lady Tigers to claim the nightcap 7-3.

Snead used a six-run second inning explosion and a four-run fourth to claim the abbreviated opener.  Marion was limited to four hits by Ashley Soos, Ashley Strength, Kalynn Allen and Annelise Borg.

MMI fought back in the nightcap, jumping to a quick 2-0 lead.  Back to back doubles by Allen and Borg, following a walk to Emily Tarango, plated the first two runs.

A four-run third helped vault Snead back to a 5-2 lead that was stretch to 7-2 before MMI attempted a last inning comeback.  Tarango singled and scored on Strength's triple to cut the final difference to 7-3.

The Lady Tigers outhit Snead 11-10 in the second game, but couldn't produce the runs. Taylor Anderson, Rachel Gauspohl and Lauren Camacho each had two hits for MMI.

MMI returns home Thursday (April 3) to host one of the division's leaders Wallace State-Hanceville.
