Sophomore Charles Tripp scored 23 points to help the MMI Tigers claim a victory at Lawson State Community College Thursday evening, 73-56. Tripp also grabbed eight rebounds. Marion held a seven point lead (39-32) at halftime of the ACCC North match-up.
Carlos Bell finished with 17 points, six rebounds, and two blocks while teammate Treyvon Francis added 12 points and eight rebounds. Mikel Davis grabbed a team high 10 rebounds. He scored nine points and dished out three assists.
Quamauri continued his solid play with seven points, three assists, and two steals. John Clayton scored two points with five rebounds. Tyquarious Arnold's three points rounded out the scoring for MMI.
The Tigers (16-3, 4-2) will host Southern Union State Community College Monday, February 6, as the second round of league play starts. Tip-off for that game will be 7:00 p.m. in the William R. Ireland Athletic Center.
