Enterprise, AL (1/6/14) - The Marion Military Institute men's basketball team extended its win streak to six with a victory on the road Tuesday evening at Enterprise State Community College. The Tigers held a comfortable 46-24 lead at halftime before the Boll Weevils made a few runs to cut the second half lead to 10. Sophomore Monta Sanford provided the hot hand for MMI as they earned the 81-58 win and improved to 9-6 on the year. Sanford led Marion with 21 points on 5-for-5 shooting from behind the arc and a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw lane. Sanford also dished out five assists.
Joshua Murrell and Charles Steele, Jr. each scored 12 points while Murrell led the team in rebounds with eight. Sammie Battle, Quinttravious Guinn, and DeAndric Thomas scored eight apiece. Raymond Hobbs scored seven while teammate Orlando Davis finished with three points. Greg Henry contributed with two points and six rebounds in the win.
Marion will travel to Hanceville, Alabama to face Wallace State Community College in North League action Monday, January 13. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
