Marion, AL - The MMI baseball team dropped a three-game series to Central Alabama Community College over the weekend. In Thursday's game, Greg Gladden and Alex Reyna each finished with one hit for Marion. The Tigers had bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the ninth but couldn't generate any runs to take the 2-0 loss in game one of the series. Chris Pennell took the loss on the mound for Marion. He pitched seven innings, giving up six hits and two runs. Pennell struck out seven batters while only allowing one walk. Terrance Robinson pitched in relief, walking one and striking out two batters for the Tigers.
Daniel Faulk, starter of game two, pitched five innings while surrendering four hits and five walks. Faulk struck out four batters and gave up one earned run in a 4-1 loss. Dalton Bahrik pitched in relief, giving up one earned run on six hits. Zach Poticny and Anthony Spivey led Marion's offense with two hits apiece. Also getting a hit in game two were: Greg Gladden, Steven Ward, Bryce Laird, and Alex Reyna.
In game three, Andrew Mack started on the mound for Marion but lasted just two innings. Mask gave up two runs (none earned) on two hits and three walks. Terrance Robinson, Kevin Simmons, and Brian Stecker all pitched in relief. Leading the Tigers at the plate was Yancey Foster. Foster finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. Also getting hits for MMI were: Reyna, Laird, Ward, and Simmons.
Marion will host Southern Union State Community College for a three-game weekend series this Friday and Saturday. First pitch on Friday is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. at Scott G. Davis Field. The first game of Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.
