Marion, AL. - The MMI coaching staff met with Brent Bolton, District Manager for Sage Dining Services, to discuss their new athletic nutrition program, Performance Spotlight. Crafted by registered dieticians, this program is based on recommendations by the United States Olympic Committee, NCAA, and other sports nutrition associations. It includes education, meal guidance and recipes.
Student-athletes will be able to identify healthy meal options conducive to their athletic training cycle with a specific "running man" icon. Coaches will also be able to choose from several choices in Sage's Catering Guide for pregame meals and on-the-go sack lunches. "I think this will be a great tool for both our student-athletes and coaches," says Director of Athletics, Michelle Ivey. "It is very important for our students to be able to learn proper nutrition and be given options that should help their on-the-field perfromance. Coaches will now be able to choose from healthier options for their athletes, something that has not been available in the past. I applaud Sage Dining for allowing our coaches to take part in this plan."
